Rozhledna Štepánka / Stepanka Tower - Look-Out Towers on Waymarking.com

Štepánka je nejstarší rozhlednou Jizerských hor, její stavba byla zahájena knížetem Camillem Rohanem roku 1847. V tomtéž roce probíhala dole v údolích stavba císarské Krkonošské silnice, jejímž nejvyšším patronem byl arcivévoda Stephan - Štepán, který tehdy vystoupil na vrch Buchstein (dnes Hvezda).
Kníže Rohan kopec na jeho pocest prejmenoval na Štepánovu výšinu a zahájil zde stavbu rozhledny. Byla však postavena pouze základna veže se vchodem, kdy se arcivévoda prestal tešit prízni vídenského dvora a odešel do Uher. Kníže, který stavbu zahájil zrejme pro posílení svého vlivu ve Vídni, práce pozastavil a torzo veže poté stálo nad Tesarovem celých 40 let. Udržoval ji Horský spolek a turisté sem chodili pozorovat slunce.
Zajímavé národností pomery této cásti hor se odrazily i na nedokoncené rozhledne.
Rozhlednu od knížete prevzal Horský spolek a o 4 roky pozdeji byla dostavená vež otevrena. Výhled z ní je opravdu krásný - krome západních Krkonoš je odtud velice hezky videt roztroušená zástavba horských chalup až k prehrade Souš a hora Jizera v pozadí, stejne jako i údolí Desné a Kamenice a další, podstatne vzdálenejší krajina.
O Štepánce se vypráví povest, podle níž kníže Rohan stavbu zastavil na varování cikánky - hadacky, která mu predpovedela, že zemre brzy po dokoncení veže. Roku 1892 byla rozhledna dokoncena a kníže Rohan skutecne zemrel do mesíce poté ...
Obliba rozhledny Štepánka je po celou dobu její existence obrovská - s jejím obrázkem bylo vydáno rekordní množství pohlednic, její charakteristická siluleta byla prezentována jako Rigi Jizerských hor, až do Korenova se odtud jezdívalo na saních i lyžích.
Poblíž rozhledny tradicne stojí drevenný stánek s obcerstvením, zajímavý je i kamenný stul s lavicí u jejího vchodu. Za veží jsou trosky kamenného válecného kríže, který mel být údajne symbolickým místem zdejších nacistu za 2.svetové války.

Stepanka is the oldest tower in Jizera Mountains, its construction was started by Rohan Prince Camille in 1847. The Mountain Association took the unfinished tower from prince Rohan and 4 years later the tower was completed and opened for public. View it is really beautiful - Western Krkonose, Jizera Mountains, a dam of Sous, Desna and more, much more distant landscape.
About Stepanka tells the story according to which Prince Rohan stoped the construction on the warning from some old gypsy, which predicted he would die soon after the completion of the tower. The tower was completed in 1892 and prince of Rohan actually died a month after ...
Near the lookout is traditionall wooden fast food stand and a stone table with benches at its entrance. Behind the tower are stone ruins of war clubs, which was allegedly a symbolic place of the local Nazis in WW2.
