Rialto Theatre

Opening its doors in 1920, the Rialto's history is rich with entertainment that has included vaudeville, dance and silent films in its early days, then English- and Spanish-language movies and, for a brief period, adult films. After sitting empty following a boiler explosion in 1984, the theater was brought back into operation in the mid-’90s with great acts suffering from spotty sound. Today, the 1,800-capacity venue is owned by the city and run by Congress Street Historic Theatres Foundation and features an excellent new sound system with some of the best independent and mainstream touring music acts.
