Originally, Rancho Del Puerto was a 13,340-acre Mexican land grant given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Mariano and Pedro Hernández. It covered large areas of present day Stanislaus County, California.

As time passed by, the land got divided several times and today a number of ranches, public parks and the entire city of Patterson, CA are all located within the original area.

In a way, this Ranch is all that is left from the original old land grant. But the modern world is coming closer and closer. In the picture above, you can see Rancho del Puerto to the left and "Frank Reines Off-Highway Vehicle Park" to the right.

With all the urban sprawl around us, it is good to see that Rancho Del Puerto and a couple of others like it keep up the good traditions of the land.
