To be found alongside the western approach road to Paderne, Rua 5 de Outubro, besides the car park for the lower part of the town, this Statue of a Tuba Player commemorates 150 years of the Paderne Philharmonic Band, now called 'Sociedade Musical e Recreio Popular de Paderne'.
The inscription on the base of the memorial reads:
MONUMENTO COMEMORATIVO DOS 150 ANOS DA BANDA FILARMONICA DE PADERNE
The band was formed on May 1, 1859 and have their concert hall at 39 Rua Migual Bombarda, further up in the town on the old main road.
