PT: O Forte de Santiago apresesenta planta pentagonal, constituída por muralhas de perfil trapezoidal, reforçadas por baluartes triangulares nos vértices voltados a terra, apresentando guaritas de planta circular nos vértices. A entrada na fortaleza é feita por uma larga ponte sobre o fosso que a circunda, conduzindo a um portal de arco de volta perfeita ladeado por pilastras, encimado pelo brasão de D. João de Sousa, governador do forte em 1700, e rematado na cornija pelo escudo de armas de Portugal.
ENG: Forte Santiago has a pentagonal plan, consisting of walls of trapezoidal profile, reinforced by triangular bastions at the corners facing the ground, presenting a circular sentry boxes at the vertices. The entrance to the fortress is made by a large bridge over the moat that surrounds it, leading to a portal of perfect arch flanked by pilasters, surmounted by the arms D. Joao de Sousa, Governor of the fort in 1700, and the cornice surmounted by the coat of arms of Portugal.
