The church features a beautiful bell tower. The bell chimes 33 times times every Sunday, to commemorate the years the Jesus Christ lead an earthly life. Before the establishment of a volunteer fire company, the church bell was rung as a fire warning and the whole community answered its call. In WWII, the bell was tolled for air raid drills.

There is a very old cemetery attached to the church off to the right. The town hall is across the street as well as the fire station. The original one-room school house is also across the street setting a complete scene for rural America.

As the community grew with the influx of new families moving into the area, the wilderness began to give way to rich productive farmland through the tireless efforts of the hard-working families. By 1880, 121 years ago, the Church was inadequate for the membership, and under the leadership of Rev. George Reeves, the present sanctuary was raised on land deeded to the Church by Joseph Mathis. On February 16, 1881, the building was dedicated by the Presiding Elder, Rev. Samuel E. Post, as the Tabernacle Methodist Episcopal Church. Source Listed Below
