Those who drive along Route 5 between Deerfield and South Deerfield may be tempted to stop at a farm stand to pick up some fresh produce. If the farm stand you choose is the M&M Green Valley Produce farm stand (
visit link) you'll have the opportunity to visit this pair of blue Boston and Maine cabooses (#458 and #482) located just behind.
The cabooses are located on small segments of mounted track several feet from the Springfield - White River Junction line of the Boston & Maine. According to the current owner of both the farm stand and the cabooses, these two B&M cars were purchased from Boston & Maine a number of years ago by the farm stand's previous owner. The cars traveled along the B&M line until they reached the farm stand, and then were moved off the tracks to their current location via crane.
The cabooses are rusting and in need of repair. The current owner told me that he hopes to restore them someday.
