Typical of the design of a number of mileposts along the A45 in Northamptonshire this one has had its original cast iron plate replaced after having had it removed during the war.
The stone is of granite and the plate is fixed with four mounting bolts. It was cast by Tarver Daventry Foundry, (I can't find any reference to this foundry on the internet), but they must have cast a goodly number of these plates and I have seen stones set up along the A45 with the matrix still quite visible.
