The artist/sculptor Alfonso Iannelli came to Illinois and worked with FL Wright on the Midway Gardens in 1914. His modernist style was to integrate his work organically into the architecture. He established a commercial design studio in Park Ridge, IL. He worked with several other Midwestern artists, worked on consumer product designs for industrial clients and completed extensive work for Chicago's 1933 World's Fair. The Rock of Gibraltar was Iannelli's largest work and one of his last.
