The Russell farm was a busy place in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It served as an overnight stopping point for travelers South Carolina and Highlands, North Carolina. All that remain now are the barn and a few outbuildings. William Russell earned the money to by the land by driving cattle to California and selling the meat during the Gold Rush.
