Now surrounded by a multi-storey car park this chimney has become home to a pair of White Storks (Ciconia ciconia).
Storks migrate from their winter feeding grounds in Africa each spring and many of them can be seen nesting right through Europe on specially constructed platforms and on high, and not-so-high, disused chimneys.
This chimney was the vent for the smoke from a fish processing plant near the centre of Albufeira until it closed down some years ago.
