'The Storyteller' is a bronze sculpture that features a chair situated in front a giant book showing the text of Dr. Seuss's (Theodor Geisel) "Oh the Places You'll Go!". On the right hand side of the sculpture are bronze figures of The Grinch, and his dog Max - two popular characters from Dr. Seuss's 1957 book titled "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!". The character of the less widely known Gertrude McFuzz sits atop the book.
The characters of the Grinch and Max gained some popularity after the release of the book in 1957. But their real fame came after the 1966 release of the television special "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!". The film version of this story remains one of the most popular Christmas-time programs aired today.
This sculpture, along with three other popular sculptures based on the work of Dr. Seuss, is located in the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden (
