In 1930, Scripps Howard Newspaper had a new, Moderne Style building built for the Akron Times-Press. In 1938, Times-Press ceased operation and the Akron Beacon Journal acquired the building, located at E Exchange and S High sts. The building has a three tiered corner tower representing the Scripps Howard lighthouse logo. On top of the tower is a four-sided LED time and temperature display. This display replaced an earlier revolving sign with incandescent bulbs displaying the time and temperature. A still earlier four-sided sign had superimposed neon digits.
