An abstract sculpture recalling Los Angeles Harbor's importance to the shipping industry and the Angel's Gate Lighthouse at the harbor entrance. It was placed in 1994 and stands in the circular entrance to the day care center (WorldTotsLA)at Harbor Boys & Girls Club, in the Liberty Hill Plaza of the Beacon Street Redevelopment.

DIFFERENCES NOTED BETWEEN THE INVENTORY LISTING AND YOUR OBSERVATIONS AND RESEARCH:
Smithsonian listing says it is located at "Port of Los Angeles, 425 Palos Verdes Street, Administrative building, rotunda, Los Angeles, California;" however it is a block away at the above address. There are star cutouts at the top of the sculpture, but I believe what the description refers to as satellites are actually depictions of lighthouse rays and a lighthouse's Fresnel lens. The lighthouse at the entrance to L.A. Harbor is called the Angel's Gate Lighthouse, and shines with a green light, the color of this sculpture - although that may not have been intentional, since it's made of bronze and has a verdegris patina. The sculpture's title also evokes the lighthouse.
