Tucked into the multi ethnic neighbourhood of Fraser Street Martin Luther Church reflects the German community that lived around Fraser and 49th until the mid-1960s. With German bakeries, butchers, and other shops catering to this community lining Fraser Street. Today most of the businesses are focused on the Asian communities.
And this demographic change is reflected at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church. With most of the German speaking members in their 60s, 70s, and 80s the church is slowing diminishing in size. What will be the future for this church remains to be seen.
