There is a rich heritage of sundials in the Pays du Buëch area of France. In and around the city of Serres there are many historical and modern sundials. On the local high school (Ecole Communal) in Serres is a simple meridian noon mark sundial corrected for the equation of time with an analemma. This was designed by Chavin in 1882. The local tourist office promotes the sundials in the area and claims this meridian is unique. Interesting perhaps, but by no means unique in France. Never the less, this is a fine well executed noon mark with an analemma to correct for the equation of time.
We stayed in the area in 2009 but visited on our way through in 2005. The 2005 pictures are often better.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
