Sears Point International Raceway opened with an SCCA Enduro on December 1, 1968, on 720 acres formerly used as a dairy farm. The challenging 12-turn, 2.5 mile configuration was an instant favorite with many in the driving community. The first major event was a 150 mile USAC event in 1970, won by Dan Gurney in an Eagle. The track feel into bankruptcy in the late 70s, was reborn as Golden State Raceway in 1979, and renamed Sears Point Raceway in 1982. The top NHRA cars made their debut here in 1988, and the following year brought the NASCAR Winston Cup. In 2002 the track was renamed Infineon Raceway in a 10 year deal, and finally in 2005 the Indy cars returned after 35 years.
The main road course now measures 2.523 miles. The NASCAR course (which cuts across from turns four to seven) measures 1.990, and the IRL course is 2.224 miles. The track is also frequently used by the local SCCA San Francisco region, and with motorcycles and drag racing is busy more than 330 days per year.
The track incorporates a drag strip in the road course. The circuit has more than 47,000 permanent grandstand seats, and a total capacity of 110,000. The coordinates are taken at the main (south) entrance. More information can be found about the track here: (
