The Brownsburg Academy was a private Presbyterian high school for young men. The academy was built with funds raised by local residents and operated as a private institution from 1850 to 1877. The academy bell was cast by John Taylor of Richmond, Virginia. When the Presbyterian Academy closed the bell was used at other locations around the community. Today the bell is preserved and stands on Route 252 in the Heart of Brownsburg, Virginia.
