A continous band of sandstone has been undercut by the small stream of Lamond's Creek. Water then cascades down to a lower pool.

The "Stone Bridge" is a natural formation on the Griffith's Trail within the Barren Grounds Nature Reserve. As shown in the photos, the creek can be crossed without fear of getting one's feet wet (though not during flood conditions of course). It is a 2km walk from the car park going anticlockwise on the Griffith's Trail or a 6km walk going clockwise (Griffith's is a "circular" walking track). Other enjoyable features in the area include lookouts, wildflowers (in spring) and birdwatching. Water pools upstream of the Stone Bridge and then cascades for about 20m into another pool some 3 to 4m lower.
It appears that when the sandstone was laid down, it was softer, or never cemented underneath. Water has managed to clear a short subterranean path for itself leaving the harder cemented sandstone on top to form a natural bridge.
