The large granite memorial is located in Sam Hicks Monument Park. Thr names of the people are etched into the stone. The stone itself came from a local quarry. Some names of the stone are: author Helen Hunt Jackson, Juan Murrieta, a local rancher, secessionist Dan Showalter.
