Broken Hills was once a thriving gold mining area. Close to this site there once was a populated area. Of course every area needs a jail so what better way to build one...blast a hole in the rock and use that. Couldn't be more solid!
Gem of the Boom Creek Walk
This walks takes you through the site of an old mining village. Little is left except an old jail, which is well worth a visit, check the walls and roof for those that make this their home.
Directions: 300m before the Bridge Carpark, the track is signposted on the left.
Time: About 5 minutes to the jail. 30 minutes if completing the whole walk.
