Garden City is located in eastern Clark County, South Dakota, about nine miles north of US highway 212 and about 4 miles west of SD Highway 25.
Its population in July of 2008 was 58, reflecting a population drop of about 20% from the 2000 census.
The town was settled by German, English, Norwegian, Irish, Danish and French peoples.
The town is not on any major highways and is about 10 miles northeast of Clark, the County Seat.
Near the town is a television tower for KELO, out of Sioux Falls, SD. This tower served northeastern South Dakota.
