Commonly known on the Prairies as a "one ton", or a "ton truck", this old girl is a prime example of the fine old trucks that hauled the golden wheat crops off the fields and into the elevators in the heyday of wheat growing. Capable of hauling around 100 bushels of good hard red spring wheat, most of these were purchased new from the local dealer and never wandered more than a few miles off the beaten path from the farm to the elevator. This particular truck may have made it to Swift Current or Moose Jaw a few times, possibly to pick up bagged seed grain or to deliver a load or two of specialty crop. Most of these trucks were driven until they were literally worn right out, and just left where they gave up, like this one. This truck is either a late 40's or early 50's. Unlike the Dodges, Fargos, Internationals, Fords and Mercurys commonly found on Prairie farms, this one has a synchromesh transmission, which meant it was not necessary to "double clutch" when shifting up or down, like the others named. Great old trucks, all of them.
