The monument is of a solider in a uniform from World War I. The soldiers wears a backpack, steel helmet, leggings, and a pouch strapped across his chest. He has a rifle The sculpture is on a multitiered base.
The monument was originally installed at the Marin County Courthouse. It remained there between 1922-1971.
To make the monument, $6,000 was raised by the Marin County Ex-Servicemens Memorial Association.
