Do not confuse this blowhole with the Little Blowhole which is smaller and situated further south along the coast. They are quite different.
The Big Blowhole, beyond the Lighthouse, attracts 600,000 tourists a year. The name Kiama itself is derived from a local aboriginal word which means "where the sea makes noise". The aboriginal people call the blowhole Khanterinteree.
A popular tourist attraction, people come to view the spectacular plumes of water that can be seen when the seas are running from the south east.
With a viewing platform perfect for witnessing the natural wonder, the Kiama Blowhole is a must see whilst in town. There is disabled access and many facilities including BBQ and picnic area, a kiosk and a bicycle path.
The Blowhole is located at the Eastern end of Terralong Street on Blowhole Point. Parking available by the Lighthouse.
Please upload a photo with your log so we can compare the water action with the Little Blowhole.
