In Norwood, just off of Pleasant Street is a USGS River Gauge along the Neponset River. This gauge is located near a health daycare center parking lot. There is another parking lot across the street that may be more appropriate. The gauge is visible from the Pleasant Street bridge on the upriver side and is close enough to record a visit.
The gauge field station structure is a typical squarish building painted green with a pointed roof. On the land side is a stairway with a door and signs identifying it.
In February and March 2010, three storms have hit the area that brought heavy rain. The storm on the weekend of March 19 was the heaviest, dropping over 9 inches in much of the river watershed. During that time, height measurements were referenced in local television stations.
