Big Charlie Black depicts a large hog with an itch behind its ear. Unfortunately, the hog is too fat to itch it. The sculpture was created by Carrie Gantt Quade in Hockessin, Delaware. It was then purchased by Barrette Family Fund, a fund within the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, and donated to Mesa's Permanent Sculpture Collection in 2006.
Big Charlie Black now sits on the Southwest corner of Main St. and MacDonald St. in downtown Mesa, AZ.
