The memorial encompasses an area of over half an acre. The overall design concept for the Veterans Gateway Park is that of a memorial garden space which also functions as a gateway to Town Square. This is a multi-functional space which can be utilized for everything from quiet reflection to moving ceremonies. The concept of the memorial as a garden connects this park space to the other public spaces throughout the Town Square development.
The design of the memorial includes the rejuvenation of the plaza area around the clock tower through the introduction of landscaping, gateway arbors, flags, benches, quotation memorials, trellises, lighting, insignia bollards, and brick paving. Together, these elements comprise Veterans Gateway Park. A brick program was implemented with the dedication of the park and is ongoing. Bricks may be purchased to be engraved with names and information about individuals who have served in any branch of the United States military.
The memorial and park was designed and constructed by Todd Wenger, Village of Schaumburg Landscape Designer, and Hitchcock Design Group, and commissioned by the Village of Schaumburg's One Percent for Art Committee.

This park is dedicated to the men and women who have selflessly served our country through the armed forces. The gardens, flag poles, and seating areas encircling the clocktower create a unique space devoted to our war veterans. The park also functions as a gateway to Town Square and serves as a physical symbol of Schaumburg’s respect for our veterans.
