In Westwood, on the bridge over I-95/Route 128 is one of two survey disks set on this bridge. This disk is set out in the open at the level of the sidewalk.

To get to this disk, it is best to park along Booth Road to the east of the bridge and intersection, then cross Route 109 and walk west (taking care when crossing an exit/entrance ramp) across the eastern span to the mark at the end of the span. The mark is approximately 3 feet from the guard rail, and close to where it starts, 5 feet from the start of the iron rails for the eastern span, and 3 feet from the southbound side of Route 109. The area is covered with old sand and litter, so the disk might be covered from time to time.

The disk has the text, "Massachusetts Geodetic Survey" along the inside edge. Within the next circle is the number, "10924." There is a smaller circle and a dot to mark the center of the disk.

The disk is in good shape, though there are scratches and gouges on the surface.

There is a project currently underway to widen I-95/Route 128. Work is nearing completion on the bridges, US 1 and 1A to the south, and sound barriers are being put up, now. This bridge may be modified or replaced as part of the project and, therefore, this disk bears watching.
