Flaget Memorial Hospital is a 120,000 square foot 52-bed facility located on 245 acres and is the only hospital in the Nelson County (Bardstown) area and treats those from Washington, Spencer, Bullitt and LaRue counties in addition to Nelson County.
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth opened the hospital on Jan. 8, 1951. The original facility included 23 acute-care beds. An expansion was begun in 1973 that added another 29 beds. Another expansion of the hospital was completed in 1991. The hospital opened a new award-winning facility in 2005 and became part of Saint Joseph Health System in early 2008. The hospital was designed with healing in mind. It includes spacious, all-private rooms decorated in soft colors and equipped with extra-large windows that afford views of farm fields and forest hills. The hospital is recognized as a Thomson Reuters Top 100 hospital.
Services offered include Flaget Birth Center, oncology services, Pain Management Center, pulmonary rehabilitation, surgical services, Sleep Disorders Center and Flaget Wound Center. Off-site services include Flaget Immediate Care Clinic, Flaget Health Connection, Hospice of Nelson County, and Bardstown Rehabilitation Services.
