The diorite lion (180 × 94 × 61 cm; 800 kg), work of sculptor Vincenc Makovský from 1966, was originally part of so called Lion fountain in Castle's IInd Courtyard. During recontruction works in 1986 was damaged and removed from the courtyard. After years in depository it was finally used as a part of a new aesthetical solution of the Prague castle North entrance - the Pacassi Gate. The lion is staying on 5 m high granite pylon which is embedded in a bronze circular tablet with inscription "Pravda vítezí – Veritas vincit" (Truth prevails)...
