The Wilbur Cherry House at 1602 Church was built 1852-54. The house is typical of the less pretentious Greek Revival houses in Texas. The Cherry House is a two-story house with heavy braced-framed structure with weatherboard siding.

Wilbur Cherry was a native of New York, he was a veteran of the Texas Revolution. He was a pioneer newspaper man in Texas.
