The locomotive was purchased by the town of Shelby in 1976. The locomotive is a 2-4-2 built in 1920 by American Locomotive Company Cooke works in 1920 for the Singer Manufacturing Company in St. Johns, Quebec. It was the Singer Manufacturing Co. Locomotive #12.
