The piece is located in the Garden Grove Civic Center Park. The piece consists both of a female and a male on separate columns . Their arms are intertwined, forming an archway. Both figures seem to be supporting each other.
Benches are located next to the piece. On them is written: "When the day ends, another begins, struggle turns to dance somewhere beneath the union of our difference lies a passage to transcend ourselves."
The sculpture cost $59,000, which was funded by Garden Grove's Art in Public Places program.A plaque on ground near sculpture reads: "Union Passage" - Bronze, Granite -Guy Angelo Wilson - Sculptor - Dedicated January 20, 1994. On the sculpture there's also a braille signature.
