Memorial to C Perry Snell 1869-1942
Mr Snell. from 1905-1942, shaped the destinies of St Petersburg more than any other man. He developed most of the area east of Fourth Street beginning at Fifth Avenue North and ending with his masterpiece, Snell Isle. A few of which are: Bayshore, Bayfront, Bayview, Grenada Terrace, North Shore, Crescent Lake; also, other areas- The Gulf Beaches, Clearwater, Bradenton, and fort Myers were bettered by his handiwork.
The dominant force in his life and work was the creation of beauty; and, because of his energy, his thoroughness, his vision, and his enthusiasm he invariably accomplished that purpose.
His generosity and public spirit have perpetual visible evidence in the City's water front parks, and works of art given to this City and his alma mater, Ogden College, KY.
This monument to his memory was given to the City of St Petersburg and its people by Mrs C Perry Snell and plaved in this parkway--the same being in the surroundings most beloved by Mr Snell.
