Sergeant John Sappington

John Sappington was born September 3, 1750 in Anne Arundal County, Maryland. Sergeant John Sappington served in Capt David Steele's company under Col William Russell's 13th Virginia regiment. He was at Valley Forge and served as Washington's body guard. After the war he married and had 17 children. He moved first to Kentucky and then to St Louis county. He had a Spanish Land grant of 1920 acres. He died September 10, 1815.
