The granite wharf is constructed from large blocks of granite worked at the Moehau Quarries on the Cape Colville Road. This is the second wharf to be established at this location. Origionaly the wharf was used for loading the granite, a well known building stone, on to the scows to transport it to Auckland. Now the wharf is a popular tourist attraction & fishing destination.
