Stanice je ražená, trojlodní, se zkrácenou délkou strední lodi na 68,8 m, sedmi páry prostupu na nástupište. Konstruována je jako koncová a je možné pribudovat další eskalátorový tunel s vestibulem ve Vinohradské tríde a prípadne prestup na projektovanou trasu D. Stanice je 68,8 m hluboko, je tedy suverénne nejhlubší stanicí v síti pražského metra, dlouhá je 139 m. Ze strední lodi vede západním smerem eskalátorový tunel (délka 87 m) do vestibulu pod námestím Míru.V prostoru nástupište jsou všechny tri lode obloženy hliníkovými eloxovanými výlisky ve zlatavé a modré barve, sloupy jsou obloženy nerezovými prvky. Na konci 90. let byla stanice kompletne zrekonstruována. Výstavba stanice v letech 1973 – 1978 si vyžádala 303 milionu Kcs. Za stanicí smerem ke stanici Muzeum ústí v obou kolejích tratové spojky spojující linku A s linkou C, do které ústí tesne za stanicí I. P. Pavlova smerem ke stanici Vyšehrad. Tato stanice je koncipována jako koncová bez odstavných kolejí. Obraty vlaku je možno provádet od stanice Skalka prejezdem s cestujícími po kolejové spojce pred stanicí, podobne jako ve stanici Skalka. Od stanice Dejvická se souprava po vysazení cestujících obrátí pres tuto spojku obrácene.

The station was completed along with the first section of Line A in 1978 and served as a terminus for some time until the expansion of Line A to Želivského station in 1980.
As of 2007 Námestí Míru is the deepest station of the Prague Metro. Its platform is situated 53 metres below surface. As a consequence the station is equipped with one of the longest escalators in Europe(length 87 m, vertical span 43 m, 533 steps, taking 2 minutes and 15 seconds to ascend or descend without walking). Námestí Míru, however, is not the deepest point within the Prague Metro network; this record belongs to the tunnel between Hradcanská and Malostranská stations (68 m below surface).
The name of the station which literally means Square of Peace derives from the town square where the station is located.
