In the 1920s, Edsel Ford, son of Henry, and his wife Eleanor started buying up property in western Oakland County, Michigan. Edsel named the area "Haven Hill" and moved his family there. They remained for over twenty years. They later sold the land to the state. The 6000+ square foot lodge was used as a conference center and dormitory for several years. The lodge burned in the late 1990s, leaving only a foundation, a chimney, and this archway.
