On the Dedham side of the Charles River, on a concrete base at the southwest end of the bridge that carries the southbound lanes of the I-95/Route 128 highway over the Charles River, is a survey disk.

To access this disk, you could travel on I-95/Route 128 south to the truck turnoff just after the exit for Great Plain Avenue, then walk (on the opposite side of the guardrail from the highway, to the bridge and the mark. Another way would be to take the next exit to Route 135, then turn right at the end of the ramp then an immediate left onto Lyons Street to a turnout by the stone bridge, then walk up the slope to the bridge and the mark.

The mark has "Massachusetts Geodetic Survey" stamped along the edge, and a ring inside of the text. At the center is a small ring with a dot. Embossed is the disk number, "10928."

The disk is in fair shape, since there are significant gouges on it.

There are plans to widen this portion of the highway. At present, they are finishing work on the new Route 1 and 1A bridges to the south and will be moving northward.
