The San Diego Zoo is located in Balboa Park. The zoo has about 4,000 animals of more than 800 species. The zoo one of the few zoos in the world that houses the giant panda. The Zoo sits on 107 acres (0.43 km2) of parkland.
Some of the highlights are the giants pandas, the koalas and the elephants.
Balboa Park is one of the oldest parks in the United States. The park houses many cultural places of interest, like: the San Diego Museum of Man, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Museum of Photographic Arts, the San Diego Art Institute the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, the Natural History Museum, the San Diego Historical Society, the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, and the Timken Museum of Art.
There are also gardens within the park, like the Japanese Garden.
