In Attleborough, MA, in the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, there is a bronze statue that represents the appearance of Mary, mother of Christ Jesus, sitting on a rock, with a distraught expression. This is how two shepherd children in La Salette, France, had first seen her, according to their accounts.

The story is that two children had seen her crying and approached her. Mother Mary stood up and talked to them and told them to go to the village and tell them what she had told them. She later appeared before them on a plateau and rose up into the sky.

The statue is representative of how the children described her. She was dressed with a crown of roses and a pendant with a great cross, with two other tools, a hammer and pincher (pliers). She is also seen crying. Possible artistic embelleshments are the additional sash of roses and chains.

Around the rock that she sits on is a shallow pool of water. There are coins in the water.

There is a plaque by the statue with the following text:

"La Salette Shrine

This statue is dedicated
on the 30th Anniversary
December 8, 1953 - December 8, 1983
IN MEMORY OF ITS FOUNDER
RENE O. SAVE, M.S.
BY HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS"

The statue is located in an outdoor area to the right of the Welcome Center when facing it. The National Shrine of La Saletette is located southeast of the center of Attleborough on Route 118. The shrine Welcome Center accepts visitors, and there is a gift shop inside. The shrine has an elaborate Christmas display by the statue every December.
