In the approximate center of town is (L) the flat-topped red brick UNION COUNTY COURTHOUSE, at the rear of which is the brick county jail.
The original courthouse looks much the same as it did during the time the American Guide Series was written. However, two wings were added to the courthouse in 1969. Another major expansion of the courthouse was completed in 2002.
