We found a gravemarker among blackberry vines, dead tree branches and underbrush along a busy road southeast of Redland while Geocaching in the area. The map indicated it was there but it took some searching and bushwhacking to find it. I took digital photographs of the names on the marker. I looked up the names on the Internet Web Site "Family Search."

Alfred Lloyd Sprague (b. 8 November 1821 in Ohio; d. 10 January 1897 or 11 March 1907 in Redland) and his wife, Satira Goff Sprague (d. 7 March 1883 or 1898) were listed on one side of the gravemarker. They had nine(?) children born in Oregon.

Alfred Sprague (b. 1874; d. 1 March 1895 Aged 20 years 10 months)

Sanford E. Sprague (b. 23 September 1852; d. 12 May 1895)
married Caroline Hatton (d. 1897). According to the 1880 census, they had a son, Royal (b. abt. 1880 Oregon).

John L. Sprague (d. 10 January 1867) was listed on the other side of the marker along with Hallie May Walensteine (d. 7 March 1898).

We did not find any other gravemarkers in this wooded area along a busy road.
