This sculpture features a bust of John Magee atop a four sided granite monument. Each side has an attached bronze panel that shows something different.
The front says "In Honor of John Magee - The Tribute of His Friends. 1886. 1794-1868
The left side features a rendition of a Steam Engine that would have been used during coal mining days, which says "Project of the Corning, Cowanesque, and Antrim Railway."
The right side features a donkey pulling a coal car out of a mine, and says "Founder of the Fallbrook Coal Company."
The back has an inscription:
"The story of a usefull and honored life may be told in these words.
His energy and diligence compelled success.
His ability and integrity won public confidence.
His kindness and liberality drew to him the affectionate regard of rich and poor.
PERMITTE DIVIS CAETERA
