The main library on the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus was named after a former English Dept head and early coordinator for the school's library system.

From a plaque inside the entrance (see gallery), we learn:
John Cunyus Hodges (1892-1967)
Dr. John C. Hodges came to UT-Knoxville in 1921 and served as head of the English Department from 1938-1962, co-authoring the Harbrace Handbook of English. At his retirement in 1962, he became coordinator of the Library Development Program and continued to expand the university's library resources.
This library is named in honor of him.

Located in the middle of the campus with a continual flow of students coming to study, work on computers, buy snacks, or hang around until the next class.

Special collections housed in the Hodges Library, include Map Services (which has various formats and available GPS receivers for students), University Archives, Leisure Reading Collection, and newspapers (even from student's home during time on campus if requested).
