The Museum presents several exhibits related to the formation and evolution of the third oldest Parliamentary form of government in the Commonwealth. These exhibits present the history of the institution while presenting the people that shaped and strived for the development of the system.
Established in Barbados in 1639 sixteen land-owners were chosen to establish the House of Burgesses, which soon became the House of Assembly. Candidates for the House of Burgesses were required to be property owners until the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act of 1950 allowed anyone aged 21 and over the right to vote without any income or property qualification.
A gift shop presents an opportunity to purchase mementoes reflecting the themes of the gallery and museum.
