The graves are for the Clark family. Dr. Joseph Samuel Clark (June 7, 1871 - October 27, 1944) was the first President of the Southern University at Baton Rouge.

Felton Grandison Clark (October 13, 1903 - July 5, 1970) F.G. Clark was the son of Joseph Samuel Clark and was also the second President of the Southern University at Baton Rouge.
Between the father/son at the helm, the University saw enrollment soar from 500 to over 10,000 and at least 37 of the 114 current buildings were built. Dr. Joseph Clark was president from 1914 - 1938. His son, Felton G. Clark from 1938 - 1969.
These are the only graves on campus.
