The Kerrytown Arch was created in 1977 by David Heberling, a University of Michigan graduate. Heberling was a graduate of the University of Michigan. Modifing the original idea of an arch with concepts from cubism, minimalism and modernist abstraction, Heberling created the Kerrytown Arch.

Like The Cube located near the Student Union, the Arch is made of Cor-Ten steel and painted black. It stand 18 feet high and is made up of asymmetrical vertical support legs.

The Arch was recently renovated by the Ann Arbor Public Art Commission at a cost near $30,000.
