A bronze plaque located on a gym's front door states the following:
Gave a speech in this gym on November 27, 1962 where he delivered the refrain "I have a dream" used in his Lincoln Memorial address in 1963. Dr. King was invited to speak here by the Rocky Mount Voters and Improvement League.
The landscape infront of this gym consist of holly brushes and boxwood, making this memorial even more visible from the road.
